The Port of Los Angeles contracted IPI to establish and manage PortTech Los Angeles, a technology incubator and commercialization center seeking clean technology products to help the businesses located in the Port meet their regulatory challenges. PortTechLA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, has been supported by the Port of Los Angeles, and two local chambers of commerce, and is a public-private partnership in every sense of the term, as it has benefited from the generosity of both federal and local government (e.g., SBA, City and County of LA) as well as large corporations. Technology entrepreneurs enjoy the advantages of a nurturing and helpful environment, where referrals to sources of technical assistance, financing, and other services are readily available thanks to the experience of the IPI Team.
